19-year old Private Henry Mathus was listed as missing in action November 1, 1950, the same day he was scheduled to return home from Korea.

Now, nearly 55 years after battle, military officials have identified the remains of the Bowling Green native. Family members say they feared this day would never come. "It went on for months and months and months. You didn't know if he was dead or alive, or in prison. It was very sad for us all."

Henry's first cousin, Wille Montgomery says he's relieved to finally have some closure after so many years of pain. "It's a relief. We'd like to have him back, but I know that's impossible."

The remains of Private Henry Mathus will be sent back to Bowling Green for a full military service in March. He'll be buried next to his parents and brother in Fairview Cemetery.
