The American Red Cross received close to 40 units of type O blood in a special blood drive held on Wednesday.
The supply has been going down since the beginning of the summer.
Type O is a universal blood type and the supply needs to be beefed up before the busy holiday season gets here. Blood drives are held every Friday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Red Cross office on Center Street.
