Franklin Land Deal

The man in charge of running the city of Franklin is now standing at the center of a town controversy.

It all began when Mayor Jim Brown's company Brown Builders bought and sold a piece of property in December for a development project near I-65. Mayor Brown says his brother and partner in business, Mark, was solely responsible for buying the three acres along Kentucky 100 for $350,000, then selling it that same day to Bowling Green businessman David Garvin for $400,000.

According the Mayor Brown, the site was a possible location for an Applebee's, but when the restaurant pulled out of the deal, Brown Builder's decided to sell.

Garvin has refused to comment specifically on what the land will be used for, only that it will benefit Franklin if the deal goes through.
