One area teacher is being named Kentucky's best. This week the state honored 19 of its finest educators, presenting them with a total of $24,000 in awards. The honor of "Elementary Teacher of the Year" was bestowed upon Warren County's Patrice McCrary.
McCrary, a 16 year teaching veteran, has been praised for her enthusiasm and dedication. Although a modest McCrary claims other teachers should have also received the honor, she credits her fifth grade teacher for her career in education.
Mrs. McCrary says she treats her students at Cumberland Trace Elementary as if they were her own. She strives to motivate children, provide individualized attention, all the while never raising her voice.
McCrary will now go on to compete for the same title nationally.
