Money doesn't grow on trees! Sound familiar? Many of you may have heard that from your parents. Well some area students are finding out exactly what that means. They are getting a reality check when it comes to spending money and supporting a family.

Eight grader Elizabeth Ferrell is a single parent with a daughter and just took a second job to make ends meat. Elizabeth is getting a reality check with the reality store at Drakes Creek Middle School. She's learning what it will be like in the real world.

Students get a career, salary, and have to pay monthly expenses. They balance budgets and are paying for the house, car, food, furniture, insurance, phone bills, and supporting a family. Kids say they are getting an idea of what Mom and Dad are footing the bill for. Teachers say they hope students find out before it's too late that managing money can be difficult.
