As the Bosnian community in South Central Kentucky continues to grow, so does the Islam community since approximately fifty percent of Bosnian citizens are Muslim.
The Bowling Green Islamic Prayer Center was established to meet the needs of this growing community.
Islam is a religion whose foundation is rooted in prayer. Muslims are required to pray five times a day at different times. The prayer schedule is set according to the times of sunrise and sunset.
Muagarem Zukic is a Bosnian immigrant and a Muslim. Zukic says, "For me, prayer is like food."
Nabil Loutif says, "It's like a phone call to you Lord five times a day. Through prayer, I seek forgiveness, help and moral righteousness."
