Former WKU Standout Dies at 41

A former standout center on Western's basketball team has died.

Clarence Martin passed away at his home near Atlanta early Thursday morning at the age of 41. An autopsy is being performed.

According to Western's sports information, the six foot eight pivot-man played five seasons for the Hilltoppers from 1982 through 1987.

Following a professional playing and coaching career in Japan, Martin returned to Kentucky and worked in Danville and Bowling Green for a number of years before moving to the Atlanta area.

Clarence Martin leaves behind a wife and two daughters. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
