Republican U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky has filed his candidacy papers for re-election.
The move for the senate minority leader is not unexpected.
McConnell has raised nearly $11-million for his re-election effort, and has been running a series of television commercials.
So far, McConnell has three democratic challengers.
Iraq war veteran Andrew Horne, Louisville-area doctor Michael Cassaro and perennial candidate David L. Williams.
Republican U.S. Representative Hal Rogers and Democratic U.S. Representative John Yarmuth have also filed their re-election papers.
