"I want to send this to you because I think you are very brave. And I want to wish you a Happy Valentines Day."
Starla Lutterman is one of the students at Hiseville Elementary participating in "Hearts From Home."
"Thanks you for what you have done. Thanks you for what you have done all this time. Starla Lutterman."
The program director for KYREADS thought of the idea to send valentines to soldiers serving overseas.
Donna Brown is the Assistant Program Director. She says, "We're hoping to have over 2000 Valentines to send to the troops. And that's Valentines created by students here in the local Barren County Elementary schools."
KYREADS is a reading program that tutors and mentors children who are behind in their reading.
"It's pictures of hearts and stars an it has my name here." Jacob Bailey is sending a valentine to keep the soldiers spirits up. "Because they don't have stuff to put up. And they can put this up."
Brown says, "A lot of them are saying the soldiers are their heroes. Most of them are saying thank for serving our country thank you for what you've done. And several are writing that they love them and have a wonderful and happy valentines day."
Bailey also wants to wish the soldiers a Happy Valentines Day. "I think we should send some stuff over there because they're doing a good job over there by helping us."
