Livestock Center Gets State Money

Exactly one week after it held its first sale in its new location, the Barren River Regional Livestock Center held its official grand opening. At 9 a.m. Tuesday, the Governor's Office of Agricultural Policy presented a check to the stockyard for $72,500.

Kenneth Allen, who owns the livestock center said: "That money, in return, is given back to the farmers to participate in the CPH sales, so that the farmers can benefit by keeping their calves longer, growing them out, and meeting certain requirements which, in turn, brings them a higher price." Allen says Tuesday's donation will amount to about $10-per-head.
