KASPER Program Upgrade

Kentucky's All Schedule Prescription Electronic Reporting Program, or KASPER, was developed to help law enforcement and pharmacists track possible prescription drug abuse.

An individual's prescription history helps law enforcement see if an individual is going to multiple doctors to get prescriptions, or even forging them.

Now the program is getting an upgrade. E-KASPER is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Qualified users, which includes physicians, pharmacists, and law enforcement officers can get a report on an individual in 15 minutes or less.

The Cabinet for Health and Family Services reports before KASPER it took investigators 156 days to complete an investigation and now the average has dropped to 16 days.
