Greener Pastures

Area cattle farmers are seeing their pastures a bit greener than usual for this time of year. That's mainly because of the extremely moist September and October period. Normally by now, pastures would be very dry. But the excess forage, or stockpiled grass, is a big help for farmers going into the colder winter months.

One local farmer says his pastures are in great shape. He says he has 42 rolls of hay set to go for the winter months--more than normal. He says the moisture has helped boost protein levels in the feed, which are beneficial to the overall looks of his cattle.
