The FBI and Bowling Green police arrested the Chief Financial Officer of the city on charges of embezzlement.
Davis A. Cooper was taken into custody at his home just before 5 this afternoon.
He was hired as Bowling Green's city treasurer in 1980, and promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2002.
The FBI's investigation began March 10th, after an employee in the city's treasury division helped uncover the fraud scheme.
WBKO news has learned the money Cooper is believed to have embezzled, is over $2 million.
He is to make his initial court appearance at 1:30 monday afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Robert Goebel.
If convicted Cooper could be sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined $250,000.
