People from all over South Central Kentucky spent their weekend saying thanks to our veterans at Bowling Green's Veterans' Day Parade. Forty-seven different floats made their way through downtown Bowling Green Saturday afternoon.
After the parade an award ceremony recognized 2 Western graduates, Colonel Ray Nutter and Colonel Sidney Carpenter, who received the distinguished service cross medal. The D.S.C. the second highest medal that any individual can receive in combat.
Others honored at the parade include State Senator Brett Guthrie as the parade's grand Marshall and elementary student Kayla Smith, for writing an award winning essay about the importance of Veterans' Day.
