It's a concern many Americans share, if Social Security will be around when they retire.
With that in mind, U.S. Congressman Ron Lewis was in town to discuss a bill he's supported for the last six years.
Lewis says the Shaw Bill has been certified by the Social Security Administration as saving the system.
He says the proposed plan would be voluntary and the participant would receive a tax credit from his or her income tax, which would go into the personal account.
Lewis says if an individual didn't do better with this program than what the traditional Social Security system offers, than the old program would kick in.
Lewis says he hopes Congress can come together to work on a solution for the future of all Americans.
