CEC Moves Forward

Thursday morning, crews began tearing down an old Mexican restaurant on 14th and Adams Street that was planned to house the new CEC.

Plans to renovate and expand the building fell through this year when contractors agreed it would be too difficult to restore.

Now, a new 15,000 square ft. facility is about to be built in its place.
The complex will house five different programs under one roof, including an autism center and others for children with developmental disorders.

The CEC has raised more than $1.4 million, but need at least $2.2 for the project.

Construction is set to begin in the next 30 to 60 days. The center is expected to be open by spring of 2006.
