Air travelers may want to bring along a book of matches for that post-flight cigarette.
As of today, Transportation Security Administration baggage screeners are enforcing a complete ban on cigarette lighters on commercial aircraft.
Although lighters have been banned from checked luggage for 30 years, Congress recently added them to the long list of items prohibitted in airline cabins.
The T-S-A posted notices about the ban 45 days ago, but at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, many travelers were surprised.
By midday, more than one-hundred lighters had been collected by
T-S-A screeners.
