Students Watch as a New Pope is Announced

As the bells tolled at the Vatican, children at St. Joe's Catholic school also heard bells ringing at the church next door, to announce Pope Benedict XVI was the new leader of the Catholic Church.

The kids say they immediately thought a new pope had been elected, and they all rushed to watch the events unfold on television.

Many of the younger students marked the historic day by drawing pictures of the Pope Benedict XVI, as they watched the events.
