Akbar Trial Continues

By Associated Press |

Defense Lawyers attempting to save Sergeant Hasan Akbar from a death sentence rested, after calling nine witnesses.
The defense is trying to show Akbar was mentally incapable of planning a 2003 grenade attack in Kuwait that killed two of his fellow soldiers.
Prosecutors called rebuttal witnesses, with the first being Akbar's former company commander.
Captain Darmen Place said he asked Akbar if he was comfortable with combat duty in Iraq and Akbar said he had no problems with it.
