Marion "Ray" Casteel Junior of Ohio County fell from the slippery rocks while walking with a friend on the edge of the Green River Wednesday evening. Search and rescue crews spent most the night dragging the river in hopes of finding his body. As dawn broke, crews re-fueled and switched shifts just to begin searching for the body again.
Police say no foul play is suspected in the incident.
Long-time residents around the Green River say the current is so strong on the other side of the dam, that they have heard of many people drowning in the river. Rescuers say the temperature of the water coupled with the warm air probably caused Casteel's muscles to cramp. But, his family said he could not swim.
