A Kentucky soldier who was based at Fort Bragg, N.C., has been killed in Afghanistan.
WTVQ-TV in Lexington reports 19-year-old Dustin Gross, who graduated from Montgomery County High School in Mount Sterling last year, was killed by a roadside bomb.
The family of the soldier sent a statement to the station saying they are "very proud" of Gross, but needed time to mourn his loss in private.
The statement also expressed appreciation for the love and support the family has received since getting word of the death.
