If you've been getting emails warning you about a batch of new telemarketers targeting your cell phone, they're wrong.
Several Bowling Green residents are getting emails warning them to register their cell phone numbers with the national "Do Not Call Registry" to avoid a fresh marketing attack from telemarketers.
But the Federal Trade Commission says almost all telemarketing calls to your cell phone are illegal, and you're welcome to register your number at any time.
"What we think has happened is that there's been a lot of confusion based on something that the cellular companies are in fact setting in to do. They are creating a directory, it'll be available very much like the current 411 directory, but in order to have your number placed on that directory, you're going to have to affirmatively say 'yes, I wanna be in there," said Lois Greisman, associate director of the FTC.
