After a Florida girl was handcuffed for throwing a tantrum, many are wondering what's the most effective way to deal with a similar situation.
James Pierson, a therapist, says he's a believer of the use of natural and logical consequences.
Pierson says "If a child doesn't eat they get hungry, that's a natural consequence. A logical consequence is basically a punishment that fits the crime."
Pierson also says having a three-strike system, where on the third strike there's a consequence, is also effective.
However, if nothing seems to work, Pierson recommends talking to family and friends for ideas, or to even seek professional help.
