New Ruling in Beech Bend Road Case

The legal battle over Beech Bend Road took another turn.

Judge Tyler Gill ruled that the road will still be defined by a 1993 ordinance that says the public right of way ends about a tenth of a mile from the back gate to Beech Bend Raceway.

This comes despite the discovery of an earlier map that would have given the public access to the entire road.

Beech Bend Park owner Dallas Jones is asking that the entire stretch of pavement be labeled as public, so he can use it for semi-truck access to his racetrack.

But neighboring property owner Matt Baker now controls the final tenth of a mile, and must give permission for any trucks to pass.

The question of whether the disputed tenth of a mile could be incorporated into the public right of way will be taken up a Logan County jury soon.
