Goad Says Considering Running in November; Feels Hurt By Results

Updated: Thu 7:59 PM, May 24, 2012

Shortly, after the election for circuit court clerk, emotions are still running high and low.

Duvall is enjoying her win after defeating 30-year incumbent Pat Howell Goad, but Goad says she may not be finished yet.

Goad told WBKO in an exclusive interview that she feels hurt on many levels.

"It's a hurtful feeling, I feel like there was a lot of voter apathy out there," said Goad.

She said she's thankful for all her supporters, but also feels betrayed by some too.

"Sheriff Gaines was out working against me, and he will deny that, but it was very prevalent. We could see, and we knew that it was happening. I talked to him personally about it, and he said he didn't even know that woman that was running, but it just wasn't what was happening," said Goad.

Goad said she's got no advice for Duvall.

"Advice for Brandi, no I don't have advice. My feelings are hurt," said Goad.

Duvall doesn't think Goad will damage the office before she comes in.

"Any attempt to sabotage the office before I get to take over, would not hurt me, it would actually hurt the Administrative Office of the Courts, it would hurt our local court system, and I just don't see the incumbent doing that. I believe she is mature enough to conduct herself in a professional manner until I get there," said Duvall.

Duvall doesn't want to clean out Goad's employees either.

"Everything is going to be the same. The Administrative Office of the Courts doesn't allow anyone to come in and clean house. Even if they did allow it, I wouldn't do it. There's no sense in letting go employees who are trained. In this economy, I don't want anybody to be unemployed," said Duvall.

For now, this race is over, but there could be more in the future.

"It's an intricate part of my being, and even though I'm losing it. It will still always be an intricate of my being," said Goad.

Goad said she is actually considering running in the general election in November.

Warren County Clerk Dot Owens said Goad could run as a write-in on the November ballot.

So, we may have not heard the last of this race or of Pat Howell Goad as circuit court clerk.
