Costa Rican authorities arrested a U.S. citizen wanted in connection with the murder of a prominent Kentucky businesswoman, who was his aunt.
Costa Rica's Security ministry says 40-year-old Russell Winstead faces charges of murder and first degree robbery in the death of his aunt, 85-year old Ann Branson.
Branson was found beaten and stabbed in her basement in January of 2003.
Winstead was arrested at a Casino in the capital city of San Jose.
A Federal arrest warrant was issued in February of 2004 charging Winstead with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Winstead apparently entered Costa Rica in June of 2003 and lived there under a false name.
There is no word yet on when Winstead will be extradited to the U.S. for trial.
