Some locals revved up their lawnmower engines Saturday, but it wasn't to cut the grass.

Instead, they competed in the Bee Springs Motorsports Lawnmower Demolition Derby and Mudbog.

In the Mudbog competition, participants sped down a muddy pathway to try and get the fastest time.

Other riders participated in the Lawnmower Demolition Derby, where riders bump into each other in order to stop the other person's engine.

They also did a practice run earlier in the day.

The winner of the Mudbog competition says he enjoys competing.

"It's a hobby that we really love, we do it just for fun, we get these trophies and that's the main thing, as far as me and my brother are concerned. Me and my brother are trying to keep this going and maybe more will come in," says Terry Spinhoward, who won the Mudbog competition.

"It brings the community together, young kids come here, from ages of five to 67 years old," says Lora Lindsey, who runs Bee Springs Motorsports with her husband, Elvis Lindsey.

Besides trophies, winners also receive cash prizes.

The events take place every Saturday.
