Commission Moves Towards Closing Roads in Shawnee Estates

Bowling Green's City Commission took its first step towards permanently closing a series of roads in the Shawnee Estates neighborhood.

Residents say college students and other motorists are using Shawnee and Navajo ways as cut through streets, bringing unwanted noise and traffic at all hours of the day.

The Commission temporarily closed the roads in January to conduct a traffic study, and neighbors in the Lost River Cove Community say those closures have pushed the traffic into their neighborhood.

Tonight's vote means the Commission is asking planning and zoning officials to re-examine the issue and make their own recommendation.
