With the rising costs of prescription drugs, many people are having a tough time footing the bill.
Throughout the spring and summer, the Bowling Green Social Security office is attempting to reach more than 14,000 individuals in our area that may be eligible for a new plan.
“We see people doing anything they can do to supplement income just so they can afford prescription drugs.”
Social Security District Manger, David Kent Smith says individuals will be able to sign up for the new program later this year.
Right now, they’re hosting more than 80 events throughout south central Kentucky. These events will help inform Medicare beneficiaries of the new prescription drug plan that could save them thousands of dollars each year.
There are certain guidelines you must meet in order to qualify for the new program and that’s done on a case-by-case basis.
