A Russell County man is still on the loose after a chase that began at the Adair County courthouse.
Brent Edmonds of Russell County came to court without his lawyer, and the judge gave Edmonds one hour to return with council.
Edmonds did not return within the hour, so the judge issued a bench warrant.
When Edmonds returned later in the afternoon, the bailiff went to take him into custody, but he took off on foot and then got into his vehicle.
After slamming his vehicle into a fence, police followed him into the woods, but had no luck finding him after searching for several hours.
Edmonds faces fleeing and evading a police officer, wanton endangerment, and contempt of court.
