Bowling Green's City Commission must now choose between borrowing money, or de-annexing the proposed "Fort Webb" subdivision.
City officials were told today that the state will not grant them an extension on Community Development Block Grant funding that would allow them to divert more than 400-thousand dollars from their master plan into the "Fort Webb" project.
That means the money will still go to home rehab in the St. Joe's neighborhood,
but the Fort Webb plan will have to rely on a city bond issue, or be de-annexed into the county.
A de-annexation will allow the subdivision planners to go back to the state for more money.
The state's decision not to allow the city to change its plan will probably mean a significant delay for the Fort Webb project either way.
