A Russell County man who fled the Adair County Courthouse after learning a warrant had been issued for his arrest is in custody.
When Brent Edmonds appeared before Judge Roger Elliott to face charges of DUI and marijuana possession yesterday, he was told to get a lawyer and come back in an hour.
Elliott said he'd continued the case for that same excuse a half-dozen times.
When Edmonds failed to return, the judge dismissed the jury and issued an arrest warrant.
Edmonds showed up later in the day, and a bailiff attempted to take him into custody, but Edmonds escaped.
Edmonds was caught last night in Russell County and is now in the Adair County Regional Jail.
He now faces additional charges including wanton endangerment, fleeing custody, speeding, reckless driving, and contempt of court.
