A Lincoln County woman called a radio station trying to sell her car to get travel expenses to attend her father's funeral, but the UK Basketball Coach was listening, and paid for the trip himself.
Billy Gillispie was listening to WPBK Radio in Stanford when the woman phoned the station's "General Store" call-in show.
Gillispie says he was touched by the woman's story and desperate situation.
He sent the money to the station, which paid for the woman's trip.
"Coach Gillispie sensed she needed help and he was willing to step up and he done a great thing, and I hope he gets blessed numerous times for it," stated Jayme Phillips, with WPBK-FM 102.9
Station employees say they're not really surprised that the UK Coach was listening, as they've had other celebrities such as country singer Eddie Montgomery call in, from time to time.
