Mike Aldridge is the owner of the Pine Tree Inn, but he's also a commissioner for the Grayson County Tourism Department, so he knows how important Memorial Day weekend is.
Aldridge says: "Our business is seasonal with the lake in the last five years. Memorial Day Weekend has been off with the water levels."
Mike says each winter the Army Corp of Engineers drops the lake 20 feet in preparation for the spring rains, but after last years rains the lake was around 15 to 17 feet above where it should have been.
Aldridge says: "We had people fishing in the parking lot at the boat ramp, and we had several boat ramps closed and several campgrounds closed."
From experience in the last few years, Mike knows if the lake is too high, summer travelers will go somewhere else.
However, this year he has his fingers crossed for the tourism department because everything seems to be falling into place. Aldridge hopes if there's a busy Memorial Day weekend, his optimistic tone will carry through the season.
