The former commander of Bowling Green's VFW Post is now on trial for arson and gambling.

Donald Mudd and Martha Towe are co-defendants in federal court, in a trial that began on Feb. 25.

They are also charged with mail fraud, money laundering and conspiracy to defraud the IRS.

Federal prosecutors say Mudd started a fire that destroyed the VFW building four years ago, to cover up his illegal gambling activities.
