Hanukkah Begins

This weekend marked the beginning of Hanukkah, a Jewish festival commemorating the Jews' victory over the controlling Syrian Greeks. Jews begin the holiday by lighting the menorah, an important ritual.

History says a Menorah was found in a Jewish Temple and one small jar of oil kept the Menorah lit for eight days. Although Hanukkah is an important part of the Jewish religion, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in September are the most important of all the holidays.
