SKYPAC Deal To Be Finalized Within a Week

The land swap deal between Western, the city, and SKYPAC could be finalized in less than a week.

SKYPAC's board met this afternoon for the first time since the Bowling Green City Commission agreed to a deal that will give WKU a parcel of property near campus formerly owned by SKYPAC.

In exchange WKU will give the city $1million to buy property for the new site.

"It's an opportunity for us to put things full speed ahead on the project and our capital campaign, and we're looking forward to raising the funds necessary to build the project in our new location downtown," said SKYPAC board chairman Rick McCue.

McCue says he has been told several property owners have already contacted the city and appear eager to sell the land in question.

The city will have to come up with an estimated $1-$1.5million in additional funding to buy up all of the necessary property.
