A six-year-old is dead and two people injured after a freak accident in a church parking lot in Grayson County. Police say the deadly accident happened Sunday in the parking lot of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Leitchfield, after mass. Police say 87-year-old Joseph Grant was backing out of the parking lot. His vehicle accelerated about 90 feet striking a parked car. It then traveled further, where it ran over two people standing by the vehicle.
A six-year-old and four-year-old were airlifted to Kosair Children's Hospital, where the six-year-old was pronounced dead. Forty-one-year-old James Pierce was airlifted to the University of Louisville where he is listed in critical condition. Eighty-seven-year-old Grant was not injured in the accident.
