Nine-year-old Paige Meador is recovering after her face was ripped open to the corner of her mouth.
"She has a broken bone on her face, nerve damage," her mother Karen Meador said.
It’s been over a week since Paige was playing outside her grandparent’s home in Bowling Green, where her mother says she was attacked by the dog.
"She was playing on a car trailer with a lizard she jumped off of it and that’s when she the dog attacked her."
The dog is currently being quarantined at the Warren County Humane Society and must stay there for ten days. After that time period officials say it depends on what the health department and the dogs owners wants to do with the animal.
The dog is a Japanese Akita and is owned by Anthony Johnson, which is the little girl’s cousin.
We attempted to call Johnson but our calls were not returned. According to the police report the dog was chained the entire time at the home.
No word yet on whether or not Johnson will euthanize the dog.
