The kids who attend Parks and Recreation's Summer Fun Camp say they like it because there are a variety of activities.
The camp supervisor, Sandra Young, says, "The kids love to go swimming, so we take them swimming twice a week. We go bowling, skating."
Even with the variety of activities, the kids all have their favorites. One of the campers, Trey Warren, says, "We're always doing something active, like we're running, playing dodge ball, something like that."
Besides the fun and games, this camp also encourages the kids to read by taking them to the library.
Young says she hopes the kids who may not have a chance to take a vacation feel as if they're on one by attending the camp, "Basically a lot of kids don't have the opportunity to go out of town and on vacation, so we give them the opportunity to feel like they're on vacation."
There are still open spots in this session, which ends July 29. For more information you can call Bowling Green Parks and Recreation at (270) 393-3583.
