Some leprechauns weren't so lucky this St. Patrick's Day.

Tiffany Meisel's second grade class at Lost River Elementary made leprechaun traps.

They were family projects that encouraged the students to work with their moms and dads to come up with a creative trap.

The students arrived this morning to find a big surprise in their classroom.

"When they came in this morning Lucky had completely messed up the room," said Meisel.

"The room was in shambles, chairs were turned over, crayons were spilled."

"I'm trying to catch him with this string, so when he trips over it and he's in there, it'll shut down on him," explained student Zack Hazel.

The students used many things as bait to try to catch Lucky the Leprechaun, including gold coins and Lucky Charms cereal.
