Children First: Year in Review

By  |

The celebration of 2002 actually started on New Year's Eve 2001 when more people stayed home with their children. In April, hundreds of motorcycle riders joined in the Teddy Bear Run raising money to prevent child abuse. Along the same lines, the game of Bowling Green debuted. The proceeds benefiting the Family Enrichment Center.

Students all over the area commemorated those lost in the Sept. 11 attacks. Security also remained a concern for our area kids throughout 2002. Children in Russellville started using clear backpacks to prevent weapons from being brought into their schools.

Politics and the environment remained in the forefront of our children's world. Greenwood High surveyed the area to track radon levels and Bowling Green held it's own election to see who students would choose to lead our county.
