An elderly man accused of shooting two police officers in Metcalfe County a few months ago pleads not guilty to assault.
Eighty-two-year-old Albert Coomer appeared in Metcalfe circuit court Wednesday morning.
On May 31, police say Coomer ran out of his son's home and shot two police officers who were serving a search warrant at the residence.
Coomer's son, 42-year-old James Coomer, also ran from the home and began firing shots at officers, and was killed in the shootout.
Albert Coomer remains in the Barren County Correctional Center.
He was appointed a public defender and will be back in court October 4 when a trial date is expected to be set.
