O'Boro General Fund Gets Unexpected Break

Owensboro's general fund reserves are getting an unexpected break. The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced it was dropping the city's tab for tornado cleanup miscalculations.

City officials say an audit turned up just over $70,000 in overpayments for the cleanup costs of the January 2000 tornado.

Officials hoped to work out a payment plan with FEMA but the agency recently told the city it was no longer seeking payment.
