U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell says the discovery of a rare mussel in the Green River adds incentive to local landowners to participate in a program designed to make the Green River cleaner for everyone.
McConnell was a key leader in obtaining $88 million in federal money for the Green River Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program or CREP.
More than 450 farmers are receiving over $1 million a year through the program. Farmers have placed about 10,000 acres into the conservation program.
