Bowling Green's Medical Center has reached new heights when it comes to cancer therapy.
The Medical Center recently received the Smartbeam IMRT, it's a state of the art cancer treatment method that delivers high doses of radiation directly to cancer cells.
This new radiation will spare more of the surrounding healthy tissue while concentrating on the specific cancer cells.
Doctors say this is a big boost for moving up in cancer treatment.
Doctors also say with treatment from the Smartbeam, patients could have fewer complications and side effects.
Vanderbilt received this same cancer treatment last year.
