Two inmates have been found dead in a Trimble County landfill a day after police said they escaped from the Kentucky State Reformatory in La Grange.

Kentucky State Police dispatcher Heather Buckley says the body of 24-year-old Michael Talbot Junior of Louisville was found today in the Valley View Landfill at Sulphur, where the prison dumps its trash.

Earlier, detectives identified the body of 26-year-old Avery C. Roland of Stanton in the landfill.

Prison officials say the two inmates were present for yesterday's 5:30 a-m E-D-T head count at the prison but were reported missing at noon.

Roland pleaded guilty last fall to charges of unlawful imprisonment, sexual misconduct and assault in a case involving a University of Kentucky student.

Talbot was imprisoned for wanton endangerment and theft by unlawful taking.
