16th Annual Soap Box Derby to be Held in Bowling Green

By Lindsey Yates |

Some got up bright and early to begin constructing their race-cars for the 16Th Annual BB&T All American Soap Box Derby, held right here in Bowling Green.

Boys and girls ages seven to seventeen, are getting their cars race day ready at the first of three construction clinics.

The event is not only a learning experience for the racers but all proceeds will be donated to local children charities.

"It's a great event, it's competition in a way they haven't traditionally thought of it before. It requires skill and dedication, and there's strategy in terms of how your drive and how tighter you are in the car, because aerodynamics plays a role as well," says Scott Laufenberg, the Race Director.

This is all for the big race at Phil Moore Park where they will compete on May 17Th and the 18Th..

The fee to race is $45.
