An early morning accident in Bowling Breen kills a Franklin man. Justin B. Copas, 21, suffered serious injuries in an accident around 2:45 this morning.
He was flown to Vanderbilt Hospital where he later died. Copas was a passenger in a car driven by 21-year-old Adam D. Carpenter. Police say it appeared Carpenter was driving at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve at Campbell Lane and Destiny Lane.
His car went over the curb and struck the "Hughes and Coleman" sign.
Carpenter was taken to Greenview Hospital where he is listed in "good" condition.
Police say both Carpenter and Copas had been drinking alcohol.
