A Fort Campbell soldier who saved two lives after losing his arm in Iraq has received two medals for his efforts.

Staff Sgt. James "Ross" Graydon has been awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Valor and the Meritorious Service Medal.

Army officials say after losing his arm in the explosion, Graydon helped direct first aid to other wounded soldiers and saved their lives.

Graydon is assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division based at the post on the Tennessee-Kentucky border.
